Father Has Alzheimer’s But When They Sing Together He “Gets Him Back” For A Moment

This is the story of a son who is on a mission to assist his father who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

I discovered a video of Mac McDermott and his father, nicknamed “The Songaminute Man” singing a song together as they drive down the road. It’s the sole time that Mac gets his father “Back” as his Alzheimer’s is getting worse day by day.

I posted this sweet and touching video on the following page but I warn you…you might want to own a tissue box handy as you watch it. Doing a small amount more research I learned that Mac’s father was a singer growing up and performed in numerous clubs around the country.

He worked during a factory full-time but kept the signing gig up…and you’ll be able to tell he has the pipes as you watch the video.

“In a previous couple of years his memory has deteriorated plenty – often not recognizing me as his son…it’s a horrible illness,” says Mac on his site where I first saw this story.

“However, now when we’ve got him singing again he’s back within the room. It’s these moments that we treasure.”

The subsequent page of Mac and his father singing within the car has gone viral and I’m so glad as this can be a cause that needs our attention. As you watch the video I hope it touches you the maximum amount because it did me.

Mac’s father who is laid low with Alzheimer’s is termed The Songaminute Man” just because of what percentage of songs he knows.

Back in the day when he was singing he was a Butlin’s Redcoat and traveled around singing in clubs around the country. “The more the Alzheimer’s kicked in, the more Dad became violent. it was incredibly difficult to manage…and terrifying at times”

But within the video below you’ll be able to see that Marc has found some way to bring a chunk of his father back and it’s touching! this can be the therapy that works best for Marc’s dad so that they are on a mission to try to do more of it and lift awareness of the current terrible disease.

“NOW WHEN WE’VE GOT HIM SINGING AGAIN HE’S BACK within the ROOM. IT’S THESE MOMENTS THAT WE TREASURE”

As you watch the video below I hope it touches you prefer it did me and if you are feeling so prompted please like and share this with others
